Design, production and installation of an offshore tripod
From design to installation, Friedlander Cameroon, a subsidiary of the Ortec Group, is building a tripod platform in an oil field which is undergoing expansion in the Gulf of Guinea.
Specifications for Ortec staff in Cameroon? This is a turnkey ECPI (Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation) project with delivery scheduled for summer 2021. The engineering and procurement phases were carried out with the support of the head office project team, while prefabrication work was carried out at the Friedlander Cameroon yard in Douala, where nearly fifty employees were involved.
“This is a great opportunity for the staff at Friedlander Cameroon,”explains Victor, a project manager. “It enables us to offer our clients a wide range of services across all stages of their projects. As we are their single point of contact, we can provide them with the support they need.”
Engineering, Construction, Installation: when expertise is coordinated
With these types of project, Friedlander handles the engineering work (geotechnical data, sizing and installation methodology), the supply and construction phases (3 sub-assemblies weighing 40t each, sliding on the foundation rails involving precise tolerances), and installation (electricity instrumentation).
“By being involved at each stage of the project, we can ensure safety, respect for deadlines and optimal technical oversight of the operations,”he continues.
In addition to making the main structure, Friedlander will install the production well control panel and fabricate and assemble piping and solar panels. Lastly, we will perform sea fastening welding operations to secure the equipment on board during transport.
Once completed, the platform will be delivered to the customer by barge. Accompanied by Friedlander, this will cover the last leg to Equatorial Guinea where it will be installed.
