Feedback from the fifth day of SEPH 2014 by Ortec

ESAT les Étangs at Port-de-Bouc has been working with Ortec for seven years, providing vehicle valeting services to the Ortec Industrie branch in Fos-sur-Mer, the Ortec Industrie branch in Martigues and the head office in Aix-en-Provence. Designed both for company and employee vehicles, these services include complete valeting and inspection of liquids.

To extend the services offered by ESAT and to enable it to enhance its skills, the social cooperation association “Coopsoc” wished to provide its trainees with training in vehicle polishing and waxing. The Ortec Group immediately supported the initiative by becoming a partner of the project and funding the complete training costs.

A total of six trainees and their workshop instructors took part in the five-day training programme organised by Lav’Sans Eau “Washing without water) from 13 to 17 October 2014. Everyone was trained in manual and mechanical vehicle polishing.

On 21 November, the General Management, the Human Resources Department and the Ortec Industrie teams gathered at the Fos-sur-Mer branch to find out about the new skills that the trainees had acquired and to award them an end-of-course certificate. To mark the occasion, the apprentices wore their work clothes and performed a manual polishing demonstration. The results were truly striking!

Above and beyond a technical demonstration, the ESAT trainees showed us that they enjoy their work, that they do it with a great deal of commitment and that they work as a team, in an atmosphere of mutual assistance and solidarity.

To congratulate them and encourage them to pursue their initiatives, Ortec Management then thanked all the teams that had supervised this workshop as well as the trainees, who were very happy with their training. After handing out their diplomas, discussions continued and some of the apprentices told us that they were already thinking about their next project: a car mechanical maintenance training course.

Throughout “National Employ the Handicapped Week”, we will be presenting the various events and actions shared with our employees. Don’t miss them! ‘Like’ our “La Vie Ensemble” (Life Together) Facebook page and follow our news feed on “La Vie Ensemble” Twitter.
