Ortec, a global player in the nuclear sector, takes part in WNE 2023
The Ortec Group will be showcasing its expertise at the World Nuclear Exhibition, taking place in Paris from November 28 to 30, 2023, themed “Connecting nuclear to the world: rising to the energy and environmental challenges”.
The event, organized by the Groupement des Industriels Français de l’Energie Nucléaire (GIFEN), brings together nearly 700 exhibitors from around 60 countries and 18,000 visitors. The Ortec Group is a key player in this sector and will be on hand to discuss major energy issues and showcase current innovations (stand AD 142).
As a member of GIFEN, Ortec has been a long-time partner of nuclear industry stakeholders, starting with EDF, the operator of French nuclear power plants. This involvement is all the more important at a time when the decarbonization of energy production is becoming a central issue of public policy.
From design to maintenance: expertise in large-scale projects
Integrating solutions across the entire project lifecycle, from design to maintenance, including metallurgical work, Ortec offers cutting-edge expertise thanks to its multi-technical know-how and dedicated organizational structures.
Ortec’s teams of engineers provide research, analysis and risk management services to help ensure the safety of people and installations. The same rigorous approach is applied to metallurgy services (manufacturing, installation, lifting, etc.) at French and international power plants.
Numerous projects testify to Ortec’s capabilities, notably on “post-Fukushima” sites following the recommendations of the French Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN). A certified EAS-u piping contract followed the delivery of 36 emergency diesel generators. These projects were carried out thanks to highly efficient organization – the creation of a Major Energy Projects department – and investment in state-of-the-art infrastructure and techniques (Pierrelatte workshop, NED robot, mechanized welding, etc.).
Since late 2010, Ortec has also been involved in the ITER project working on the construction of tokamak, the site’s future nuclear fusion reactor.
Leading partner for future challenges
As the French nuclear industry takes a new turn, the Ortec Group intends to remain a leading player in the decades to come. The fact that the French government is planning to extend the lifespan of existing French power plants from 40 to 60 or even 80 years is opening up opportunities in design, research and engineering. In addition, the French government’s intention to build six new EPRs by 2050 is creating new opportunities for manufacturing, assembly and maintenance of structures.
Aware of the scale of these challenges, Ortec is currently engaged in a recruitment process to ensure the deployment of qualified personnel to meet all these requirements.
