A day marked by communication

Mutual assistance and tolerance are just some of the values from the Ortec Group’s corporate philosophy that the company applies on a daily basis. On 19 June 2018, Ortec welcomed a gathering of the RRH – the “Réseau des Référents Handicap” (Network of Disability Experts) – for the first time. An event was hosted in partnership with the AGEFIPH (a French non-profit organisation that helps handicapped people find employment) which encouraged interaction between all the professionals responsible for employment-disability within the group’s companies. 45 members of the RRH visited Ortec for a day of discussion and activities. The participants brainstormed ideas for constructive projects around disability in companies, such as “Developing your own communication activity” or “Involving managers in company employment and disability policy”.

During this one-day gathering, we worked on optimising the impact of in-house communication dedicated to disability. The programme included workshops focusing on sharing ideas and developing working groups. After the morning reception, two workshops were held during the day (one in the morning and one in the afternoon) with a break to enjoy a convivial lunch which encouraged further discussion. During each gathering, methodological support was also provided to improve the development of tools and projects that facilitate access to employment for people with disabilities.

Disability initiatives are a priority at Ortec.

By hosting the RRH gathering, the Ortec Group demonstrated that it is constantly endeavouring to promote equal opportunities and to improve the working conditions of its employees. Through its “Ortec, La Vie Ensemble” (Ortec, Life Together) business project, the company has also defined several action programmes: Action for the Disabled, Social Action and Housing Action. Including and welcoming handicapped people to the work place, and helping them remain in employment are top priorities for the Ortec Group. Since its inception, the company has been working to encourage the recruitment of people with disabilities and to enlighten its employees on this sensitive subject.

Led in partnership with AGEFIPH, the RRH meeting, which was held at the Ortec Group’s registered office, discussed a number of initiatives: facilitating the sharing of information and experience, identifying useful contacts, implementing joint integration projects and proposing tools to raise awareness about disability in the workplace. The event gave everyone the opportunity to express themselves on the subject of in-house communication. Better communication? A first step towards strengthening unity!
