Leading engineering and construction services group Ortec is proud to announce that its short-term greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This significant milestone reaffirms the Group’s commitment to decarbonizing its operations and combating climate change.

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a globally recognized independent organization established through collaboration among the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). By providing standards, tools and guidelines, SBTi assesses and validates the GHG emission reduction goals of companies and financial institutions, ensuring alignment with science-based methodologies and the objectives of the Paris Agreement.

In its commitment to fighting global warming, the Ortec Group has set ambitious targets to reduce both direct and indirect GHG emissions across its entire value chain:

  • A 42% reduction in absolute GHG emissions for scopes 1 and 2 by 2030, compared to the 2021 baseline year, and
  • A 51.6% reduction per million euros of added value for scope 3 emissions over the same period.

The SBTi has certified that these objectives align with a trajectory of limiting global warming to 1.5°C by 2030.

“The SBTi’s validation of our decarbonization trajectory is a source of great pride. Setting targets is of course just the beginning, and our actions, which involve every component of the Group, must rise to the challenges posed by global warming. The environmental transition is underway, and Ortec is committed to contributing actively” commented Julien Einaudi, Deputy CEO of Ortec Group.

To achieve these objectives, the Ortec Group is implementing its O’Climat plan.

This comprehensive strategy aims to reduce the Group’s GHG emissions through complementary measures, including carbon accounting, energy consumption reduction, and mitigating impacts on water resources and biodiversity. The plan also focuses on raising awareness, promoting sustainable mobility, low-carbon purchasing and waste management.

Additionally, the Group supports its clients in their environmental transition by offering Sustainable Performance Solutions. A key example is the launch of Oreve, a new network of ultra-fast charging stations for trucks and vans.
